I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist working across a Community Mental Health Team, Research and Private Practice. I am a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professionals Council and deliver psychological therapy in the NHS for adults with complex emotional needs. In addition to the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, I have further training in Eye Moment Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I have been working clinically with patients across Mexico and UK for over 10 years.
I am particularly passionate about supporting people who struggle with low self-esteem and high levels of shame. Using Compassion Focused Therapy, I aim to create a non-judgemental space for people to safely look into their past and understand why they feel and behave the way they do, the fears and survival strategies their past experiences have left, and how to nurture their compassionate self. This can help individuals to gradually grow into the understanding that what they are going through is not their fault, and to gently help them to gain more tools to build the life they want for themselves.
I am also passionate about science and research. I work as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Psychological Health Observatory (partnership between RDaSH NHS and the University of Sheffield). My main interest is in precision mental health care, which aims to identify what treatment, by which clinician, at which moment, might be best placed for a particular person. I use artificial intelligence (machine learning) to help answer some of these questions. While I don’t think research will ever provide certainty or a definitive answer, I think it can help us get closer to provide the best possible care for each person.
I work Tuesdays in person 9.00 – 11.30 and in the afternoon online. I charge £120, I am fee assured with BUPA, AXA and WPA and charge separately for other insurers and case managed work.
