Short Biography

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have worked in Academic and Clinical Psychology for over 20 years. Most of all I value supporting people through difficult times, sitting alongside them and bringing my skills and experience to help them.

When working in the NHS I have specialised in Clinical Health Psychology and in Occupational Health. I work with people with a wide range of acute and chronic health problems, including people living with and beyond cancer and after spinal injury. I offer individual therapy, teaching and supervision, and rehabilitation after life changing injuries. I am experienced working in multi-disciplinary teams, both in the NHS and privately funded, helping to shape the care that is offered to a client.

I have supported clients dealing with issues including stress, overwork, depression and anxiety when I was the clinical lead in an Occupational Health/Wellbeing support service for NHS staff as well as in my private practice. I am experienced in relating with Occupational Health Services to communicate individuals’ needs at work. I designed and delivered the initial training for NHS staff at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals on Wellbeing when the Coronavirus pandemic was first developing.

Before qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, I completed a PhD in Clinical Health Psychology, developing a Cognitive Behavioural Model to understand how people cope with a disfiguring condition. This knowledge is useful now when I work with people concerning their appearance. I have been a Clinical Lead, Service Lead and Operational Manager of NHS Psychological Services.

When I work with clients, I draw from a number of models, depending on their goals and needs. I specialise in Compassion Focussed Therapy using evidence based approaches from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness practice, Solution Focussed Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I provide a safe and non judgemental space where you can be honest about your difficulties; I can share my understanding of your situation and my specialist skills and knowledge to help you to move forwards.

I work Mondays 1.30 – 5.00, Tuesdays 1.30-4.00 and Wednesdays 9.00 – 17.00 and have online availability at other times on request.

I charge £120 to private funded clients.  Please get in touch for case managed and business funded work rates.
