Short Biography

I began my career in Nottinghamshire in 1993, training to become a mental health nurse within forensic services. I moved on to acute psychiatry , addiction before working eventually in community nursing within the Peak District.

My career has given me considerable experience of helping people with a wide range of issues including trauma, low mood, anxiety and parenthood. I currently work in the NHS as a lead nurse for a perinatal service offering support and therapy to women whilst pregnant up until their child is two years old. Working within this service has increased my interest in childhood trauma and the causes of mental health difficulties.

Alongside my NHS position, I have trained as an EMDR practitioner and have completed specialist Cognitive Analytic Therapy training (CAT). I became drawn to CAT because it is a compassionate, collaborative model and brings an understanding to people of their current problems.  CAT explores the underlying causes of repeating patterns  in terms of  earlier life and relationships. I have found CAT to be an extremely effective time limited therapy for working with a wide range of problems.

I would offer a compassionate space to discuss your current difficulties, how they are impacting your life and the underlying causes working collaboratively to explore these issues in a non-judgemental way.

I work on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and charge £90 per session.
