I have had a broad and varied practice of over 15 years working with adults, teenagers and children to overcome barriers and fulfil their potential. I have worked in three different continents doing a range of government, charity and private practice projects. Having started off in adult mental health, I completed my doctorate in Child and Educational Psychology in 2017. . As well as my psychology studies I hold an MA in performing arts and am a great believer in the power of play and creativity for self-reflection and expression. I specialised in teenage mental health. I have always enjoyed maintaining the variety of working with both adults and young people.
I use an integrated, evidence based psychological practice to help individuals become ‘unstuck’. As well as looking at what brings pain, I also help refocus on strengths and what brings (or could bring) pleasure, and to reconnect with values. In our sessions, as well as talking I often like to use visuals including drawing and other creative methods.
I specialise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which combines cognitive behavioural with mindfulness and compassion-focused practice. Other specialisms include trauma-informed practice, inner-child work, body-mind connection (‘embodiment’), and psychoeducation (helping you to understand a diagnosis such as ADHD, ASD, a mental health difficulty or generally how the mind and body relate to each other. Knowledge is power!).
In clinic, I regularly work with neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, managing difficult life situations and overcoming trauma. I have trained in diagnosing ADHD, and although I don’t currently offer full diagnoses, I can offer screenings. I have experienced trauma in my own life and have a diagnosis of ADHD, both of which particularly help me to relate with and support others who may be neurodivergent or who have encountered a significant adverse experience.
Online, for the past two years I have provided rapid response trauma informed support for social workers who have been involved in a critical incident. I frequently work with professional such as teachers and those in the helping and healthcare industries to manage their own personal difficulties.
For my own wellbeing, I’m a keen wild-swimmer with a wider love of connecting with nature. Body-mind integration for emotional regulation is also a big part of my life and practice.
I work on a Tuesday and Thursday and charge £140 for 60 minute and £120 for 50 minute sessions for private clients. Case managed and business work fees available on request.
